The Maintenance Manager is one of the critical leadership positions in the Technical Leadership Team – reporting to site Technical Manager.  He/she is responsible for the Shift Technician’s scope of work. 

This role provides a focused leadership to the maintenance team comprising all of the shift technicians, apprentices, and other maintenance personnel.  This includes optimizing individual score cards, developing the right skill matrices, and developing the qualification plans for the maintenance personnel they are responsible for.

The Maintenance Manager will also be the main driver for the Technical Database documentations, capturing all the learning, and standardization through the MSE journey.

What are we looking for?

  • Preferred, but not required post-Secondary Education in a technical field

    Dual license (electrical / mechanical) is preferred

    Required to have CMRP (Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional) and/or expected to complete within 18 months of hire.

  • 10+ years of experience in a reliability related scope of work

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role

  • Previous experience in developing technical skills

  • Previous experience developing work processes and technical documents

What will be your key responsibilities?

Safety

  • Be a Role model and drive the culture of safe behaviors and execution:
    • Training completions, regulatory inspections, corrective actions completed on time
  • Address the safety aspects in the SIMPTWW (maintenance task instructions)
  • Ensure the compliance of shift technician group and contractors in the site, working under their supervision, with Mars HSE and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate safety near misses and any recommended roll out from the network.

Continuous Improvement

Implement and maintain 5S principles within the maintenance department.Reduce the variation in the execution by addressing the capabilities and resources. Ensure the technical document feedback is processed and drive the necessary updatesParticipate in the assessment of improvements ideas and projects scope reviews

Technical Skills

Strong Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatics and Hydraulic background.Understanding maintenance processes (Planning & Scheduling, Storeroom Management, Preventive Maintenance Optimization, and Lubrication). Assist in troubleshooting issues as needed. Respond to breakdowns to ensure proper resources are allocated to ensure minimal downtime.

Mars Supply Excellence/ PM pillar

Owning the AM support DMS in the PM pillar. This includes:

  • Complete the qualifications as per the step-up card
  • Develop the DMS action list as part of the pillar masterplan and 90 days plan
  • Track DMS KPI’s and the health checks
  • Support the development the CIL training plans for the equipment owners
  • Develop and update technical documents
  • Support the actions to fix the abnormalities (equipment defects)
  • Develop the plans to close the gaps in the DMS step assessments
  • Own the Abnormality log.

 Owning the Lubrication DMS in the PM Pillar.  This includes:

  • Developing a lubrication roadmap for all assets and establishing lubrication frequencies.
  • Identifying the standard lubricants for our assets and working with the stockroom DMS leader to for storage, procurement, and 5S compliant.
  • Build out the physical location for storage of lubricants.

Be an active participant and role model supporting all other PM Pillar DMS’s including BDE (Breakdown Elimination), Stockroom Management, Planning & Scheduling Work Management, Predictive Maintenance, and Maintenance Cost. 

  • Your technicians while not expected to lead these DMS, will be expected to support them, and execute their work in a fashion that promotes the overall goals and objectives of these DMS’s.

5S ownership, with the Maintenance Manager responsible for over half of the technical team’s headcount and overall responsibility of the workspaces these headcounts and the rest of the team will share, it is expected the Maintenance Manager will administer a robust 5S standard.  This will include the planning, creating the department standard in line with the site standard, and high expectations for sustaining this expectation.

Leadership

Back up of the Site Technical ManagerRepresent as a role model for the Lewisburg site culture, RC culture, and Mars culture.Manage Performance, development, and succession planning of personnel under their chargeLeading the engagement plans (Impact planning and High-performance collaboration)Instill ownership into techs through Mars leadership skills. Provide the right level of coaching and support to the team Ensuring the team has the right tools for the jobs they are expected to performEnsuring that there is proper expectations and work instructions for organization and cleanliness of tools.Drive the needed cultural changes that support the MSE journey in the siteEnsuring the resources (shift technician’s) availability in regular schedules and during projectsSupervising the technical qualification and coaching for the site apprentices

Quality

The associate ensures Food Safety requirements are effectively performed.  This includes training of shift technician team on the Food Safety & Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), ensuring CCP monitoring is in effect and continuously improving the process.Role Model Quality Mindset and Behaviors and drives them within the teamCommunicate Quality near misses from the network.
